BrewDog, the controversial beer firm, is using stuffed animals to package what it claims to be the world's strongest and most expensive beer. The beer, called The End of History, costs £500 for a single 330ml bottle and has a 55%ABV alcohol content. Just 12 bottles have been made.
The brand took the unusual decision to package the beer bottles in stuffed animals, and to be more specific, woodland creatures. There are seven stoats, four squirrels and one hare and were hand crafted by a Doncaster-based taxidermist. For any cries of animal cruelty, the company has said that the animals used died of natural causes.
James Watt, BrewDog co-founder (pictured right, in the red jumper) said: "In true BrewDog fashion we've torn up convention, blurred distinctions and pushed brewing and beer packaging to its absolute limits."
The name 'The End of History' refers to a piece of work by philosopher Francis Fukuyama.
"This is the beer to end all beers. It's an audacious blend of eccentricity, artistry and rebellion, changing the general perception of beer one stuffed animal at a time," said Watt.
The beer was produced at BrewDog's Fraserburgh brewery. It utilised an extreme freezing technique to separate the water from the solution. The process is then repeated dozens of times over meaning hundreds of litres of beer is needed to produce just one 330ml bottle. |
