Chevler, the South-Wales-based manufacturer of baking cases and tulip muffin wraps, has bought the Cardiff-based greaseproof paper printer Lovely Packaging for an undisclosed sum.

Set up early last year with a £330,000 investment Lovely Packaging offers a natural paper that can be branded and cut to size for the sandwich, foodservice and cosmetic industries.

Chevler managing director Stuart Whelan said: “This is an exciting move for us. Combining the new business with Chevler's customer base will allow us to substantially grow our greaseproof range of products and offer the market something genuinely new and highly appealing”.

He added: “The quality of print surpasses anything we have seen on greaseproof paper before,” revealing that this has been made possible by using a specially formulated natural greaseproof material a unique printing process which results in a far superior depth of colour and detail over flexographic printing which is the industry's standard method for greaseproof paper.

Mr Whelan stressed that Chevler plans to maintain the staff and existing production facilities at Lovely Packaging's 4,000 sq ft unit at Cardiff Bay Business Centre.
