Robinson back in profit
Robinson back in profit
Despite "all time high" polymer prices, plastic and paperboard packaging specialist, Robinson has recorded a return to profit in first half year results.

The firm, based in Chesterfield, reported £11.5m revenue for the six months to 30 June, an increase of 19%.

£192,000 pre-tax profit was recorded, an improvement of more than a million pounds on the £966,000 loss of 12 months ago.

Richard Clothier, chairman, said that despite rocketing plastic polymer prices, due to supply plant capacity problems, margins had recovered.

"Continental polymer prices have lately started to ease and we expect this to spread to Central Europe and the UK during the second half of the year," said Clothier.

He also stated that during the first half of the year, the company won a number of new contracts, whilst the Polish arm of the operation continued to make excellent progress.

Clothier closed by saying that the firm remains optimistic for the rest of the year, despite the expectation that market conditions shall remain demanding.

"We do not anticipate our main business sectors to be badly affected this year but the run up to Christmas is an important time for the packaging industry and any overstocking would have an impact on early 2011 revenues."
